| 5/30/04- My name is Bill Bleecker and I am Doug's primary Care Provider. I spend over 85 hours a week helping Douglas so I know him very, very well. Doug has many needs, but of immediate concern is securing reliable transportation for Doug. His 1988 mini-van needs and it just isn't safe to take Doug anywhere, especially in the 110 degree heat! He's due now for his next doctor's appt and it's a hazard to take him there. He just can't ride comfortably/safely in a regular car. Doug's greatest joy in life is to get out and see something besides the cieling in his room. We are seeking help of all sorts; volunteers to help get this organization and website together, and fundraising advice and support. | 8/21/05 - Well Doug has had two of his wisdom teeth pulled and is recovering well. I think it was worse for me! Anyway, he seems to be feeling much better without those impacted wisdom teeth! I have gone thru this site and tried to fix all of the pictures... enjoy! |

| 11/13/05: Time for an update! The most exciting thing to report is that I have decided to go further into debt and buy a mini-van so I can continue to take Doug out of his room and into the world. His 17 yr old mini-van just wasn't working out to be safe and reliable anymore. I've also aquired a pop-up camper and have spent most of my 'free' time making the van and camper usable for us. Here is a pic of the new set-up... |

| 5-1-07 ATTENTION PLEASE: I AM VERY SAD TO ANNOUNCE THAT, AFTER 41/2 YEARS, I AM NO LONGER CARING FOR DOUG, SINCE, DUE TO A MAJOR PROBLEM WITH HIS "GUARDIAN." I was forced to resign. I was there for Doug 7 days a week, and every night. Seems I had no say in how Doug could be covered during my 10 day vacation! I even offered to take him with me!!! I WILL TRY AND KEEP THIS PAGE AS A MONUMENT TO DOUG. Thanks to all our fans for your support during this difficult time. . I haven't been able to see him due to his Guardian's callousness. And since I was not even consulted, Doug's wellbeing is once again in jeapordy. His doctor and I had him off most of the damaging medications. He rarely needed oxygen except at higher altitudes. He hadn't needed a "breathing treatment" for about a year. He was out and about and really enjoying life! 8-15-08 Sadly, I have now been told that Doug is back on O2 and getting 4 "breathing treatments" daily. They say he is "shutting down." I knew this would happen, but there was nothing I could do. I can't force anyone to listen or care, unfortunately. Doug only speaks to those who will listen and care. . |
